Dynamics 365 Release Wave 2 2025: What’s New in Customer Insights – Journeys

The much-anticipated Dynamics 365 Release Wave 2 2025 is here, and with it comes a host of exciting new features and enhancements for Customer Insights – Journeys. This release is focused on empowering marketers to deliver personalized experiences, streamline campaign creation, and ultimately, drive better business outcomes.

The key innovation areas in this release wave can be categorized into three main branches:

  • Agents and copilots
  • Moments that matter
  • Turbocharge your pipeline

Let’s dive into each of these areas and explore the new features and their expected general availability (GA) dates. For the full release note see official Microsoft documentation here

Agents and copilots

This area is all about leveraging the power of AI to make marketers’ lives easier. With Copilot and agent capabilities, the goal is to streamline the creation and delivery of personalized experiences, allowing you to launch tailored campaigns quickly and without deep technical expertise.

Create journeys by using Copilot to describe them

This feature allows you to use natural language to describe your desired customer journey, and Copilot will build it for you. This will significantly speed up the process of creating complex, multi-step journeys with the aid of natural language.

GA: December 2025

Moments that matter

The focus here is on enhancing your ability to manage customer journeys across complex organizational structures and deliver timely, relevant experiences.

Export copies of sent emails for record keeping:

A simple but important feature, this will allow you to export copies of sent emails for your records and compliance purposes. Might not seem like a big deal, but when you have to prove you sent that message about price increases this is a life saver.

Automate journey creation with the Journey API

This public preview feature, announced as part of our developer story, has set a new pace for developers. With this feature, you can automate journey creation, editing, and management. You can now use the new API to connect to your custom apps. The capability enables you to programmatically create a journey based on a template or from scratch, edit journey properties, and manage journey status (publish, stop, etc). It also allows you to confidently deliver consistent customer experiences by integrating your journeys with your existing business applications, enabling you to orchestrate journeys based on triggers from external systems. The feature will be available to deploy from October, the date it will be launched, but the feature will go out in waves to different customers. But we should expect it to reach edge zones.

Set message expiration to avoid irrelevant messages

Have you ever tried to send an SMS, email, push, and custom channel message with an offer that was only available for 24 hours? You no longer need to do custom workarounds with this feature for your messages that have an expiration date. It’s now possible to set an expiration date for time-sensitive offers directly on the message itself.

Simplify forms by filtering choices based on previous answers

To reduce form abandonment and improve data quality, this release introduces Dynamic Field Filtering. This feature makes your forms smarter and more intuitive by automatically filtering the options in one field based on what a user selects in another field. For example, after a user selects a country, the «City» dropdown will now only show cities from that specific country. This eliminates long, confusing lists and guides the user to the correct choice. The result is a much smoother and faster submission process for your customers, leading to fewer errors and higher quality data for your team.
