Dynamics 365 Release Wave 1 2026: Customer Insights – Journeys

The 2026 Release Wave 1 for Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys is officially here, and the theme from Microsfot is clear: The era of agentic marketing is upon us. This release empowers businesses to deliver personalized, end‑to‑end customer experiences that evolve and react to behavior in real-time. By leveraging Copilot and AI agents, marketing teams can now move beyond simple automation to true orchestrationand anticipating customer needs and activating connected interactions across marketing, sales, and service.

In this post, we’ll dive into the three key pillars of this release: Agents and Copilot, Elevating Customer Experiences, and Turbocharging your Pipeline.

Agents and Copilot: Moving Beyond Automation

The focus for this wave seems to be reimagining how experiences are created. Dynamics 365 brings together Copilot and AI agents to streamline complex processes, essentially enabling a single marketer to achieve the output of an entire team.

  • Boost Engagement with Copilot-Powered Conversational Text Messages: Gone are the days of one-way SMS blasts. You can now engage in two-way, real-time conversations. Copilot acts as an agent to understand customer replies and provide personalized responses. Whether a customer is asking a question or trying to reschedule, the AI ensures the conversation remains relevant and drives the journey forward without manual intervention. As a Contact Center nerd I really love this feature bringing more Copilot studio and Contact Center features into marketing

Elevate Customer Experiences: Precision in the Moments That Matter

To build long-term loyalty, communication must be relevant, timely, and branded. This release introduces several features that ensure your customers only see the most current information through a trusted lens.

  • Branded Links for Emails and Content: Increase click-through rates and customer confidence by using your own vanity domains for links. Copilot provides step-by-step guidance to authenticate these links, ensuring your brand identity is consistent and recognizable across all digital touchpoints. A really important update to ensure no more suspisious links are included in your emails.

  • Set Message Expirations to Keep Communication Relevant: Stop sending irrelevant or «expired» offers. You can now set expiration dates for emails, SMS, and push notifications. If a message isn’t sent before the deadline, it is automatically skipped. This prevents «marketing fatigue» and ensures your customers only receive timely information. One of the most important updates based on my opinions!

  • Automatically Update Emails with the Latest Content: Ensure your emails reflect real-time data. This feature allows email content (like pricing or inventory) to update dynamically at the moment of engagement. Your customers will always see the most accurate information, even if their data changed after the journey started.

Turbocharge Your Pipeline: Closing the Gap Between Marketing and Sales

Accelerating growth requires a friction-less handoff between teams. These updates focus on turning high-intent signals into measurable business results.

  • Close Leads Faster with Automated Seamless Handoffs: Eliminate the delay between marketing qualification and sales action. You can now automate the handoff process directly within a journey. When a lead reaches a specific milestone, they are immediately routed to the right salesperson.
