Email creation failed due to missing double opt in template.
Recently, I encountered a challenge while setting up double opt-in for a customer using multiple compliance profiles in Dynamics Customer Insights – Journeys. Despite extensive online research, I couldn’t find a solution. After numerous attempts and collaboration with Microsoft Support, I finally identified the solution.
When attempting to set up double opt-in for the first time, you will find the necessary options under your selected compliance profile.

However, upon clicking «Set up double opt-in,» you might encounter the following error: «Email creation failed due to missing double opt-in template.»

When looking at the templates in Real-time journeys I could see the following template which to my understanding was correct:

The solution for this is as follows
- Navigate to Emails in Real-time journeys.
- Create a new email
- Select the Double opt-in confirmation template.
- Provide the email with a clear and informative name.
- Under Settings -> compliance, select the profile for which you want to create the double opt-in. In my example, this is the Test Profile (see image below).
- Ensure the email content is error-free. Once completed, click Ready to send.

Return to your compliance profile settings and click Retry set up. The setup should proceed past the initial error and display the following state for a few minutes.

The process will then automatically switch to the following screenshot when initial set up is completed:

Congratulations! You now have a functioning double opt-in setup for an environment with multiple compliance profiles.
